Brass Fanfares

in Neutral Milk Hotel, lends the music that "Marching Band on Acid" quality so desirable. In live shows, when there was no brass often they'd just hoot to approximate the sound.

In the opening theme of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, a more frantic fanfare comes in around 1:45, and it seems to break down the song. And there's another, shorter and less important in the climax of the track The Ecstasy of Gold, when in the film Eli Wallach runs around the cemetery looking for the grave containing the loot.

Matt's thesis is that brass fanfares are neat.
