National Recording Registry Rides the Silver Rocket

Check out the pix for the Library of Congress' National Recording Preservation Board 2005 National Recording Registry. Among the cool things on there are Are You Experienced?, Switched On Bach, and the super awesome Sonic Youth record Daydream Nation. Kim Gordon's obnoxious, breathy grrlism is now an official part of our national heritage.

What's more, we've now got, with that album's "Candle", a song on the registry that contains the word "carpet".

Not that we necessarily didn't before, but now we're certain.
