For all the oddity of Jandek,* for all the pointless, meandering tracks of questionable quality, he does have one heartbreaking gem under his belt. Nancy Sings gets its title, everybody assumes, from the fact that there's a woman singing on the track named Nancy.

Nancy has a pretty voice which well complements the guitar that Jandek pokes at in an almost musical manner. Normally Jandek annoys me. This song's the one time when all is right, though, and the mysterious sound you imagine when you hear about Jandek actually comes out yer speakers.
