I have a font problem

I have a font problem. Or maybe it's a typeface problem. Regardless, on certain sites I read, the text looks fucking ridiculous, like this:

I assume the problem's on my end, because that example comes from a designer's website (complaining about the whole Forbes "snooty designer" article controversy). I doubt that the text is meant to look undulating, of uneven size, and with chunks missing from it. I have tried sizing that shit up and down, tried loading it in firefox and in chrome, and it always looks mottled and messed up.

Today I noticed my site's headings are different than before, not as sharp.

I've no idea why, but I can't see my text as bad as you have.

Regardless, I don't think the issue is only on your side, so I'd appreciate you telling me the other sites that are showing similar poor results.

Cheers.

I don't have another site on hand, but I think I figured out my problem. It's Helvetica, which appears to render poorly on windows boxes, although it does nicely on macs.

Here's a short explanation (although he switches labels on his Mac and Windows demos). He has a link to a page showing various sizes of Helvetica for reference.
