Yesterday was 08/08/08, so some kind soul on Metafilter did a post about 808 State. Their Ex:El LP is a favorite, in no small part because of the song Olympic:
I love the sweet energy of the song, which sounds like a housier version of the In Search Of... theme, which you can hear here at :45 (though you don't want to skip ahead):
The animation in the Olympic video is fun and pretty. And while the guys dancing in front of the synthesizers are corny, the sound can only be described as otherworldly.
