Demo-geddon!

I'm quite frightened.

I'm more offended than frightened. Scaring people into thinking that the only way to defend the country against some hypothetical future attack is to give up their rights is insulting. And that clip of Steny Hoyer that's repeated three times is played without any context. He could have been saying there was no urgency to raise postage, not that there's no urgency to protect America.

You can see the original Hoyer clip here. It comes from 2/14, and Hoyer is saying that there's no urgency to pass the new wiretap bill. Here is Wired's coverage of the incident.

With McCain such a hawk, and Obama running on his anti-war vote, you know that this is just the beginning. It looks like this will be a big culture war battle for the presidency.

Obama has already been attacked as being less than patriotic, from the lapel pin, the failure to sing the anthem, and his wife's terrible "this is the first time I'm proud to be an American" comment.

So, is Obama George McGovern 2.0?

oh, on that clip, you'll want to fast forward to 7:10 or so.
