Racial Euphemism: "Diverse" means "a minority"

In the USA purge emails, Kyle Sampson wrote an assessment of David Iglesias, later let go in the purge, as a "diverse up-and-comer; solid." Iglesias is Hispanic. Of course, only a group of different elements can really be diverse with respect to any factor. One person can't be diverse. So grammatically, this is a bit of a bum phrase.

Of course, we can easily deduce what Sampson means by the phrase. He means to say that Iglesias adds to the diversity of a group of employees because he's Hispanic. Essentially, "diverse" is a synonym for "member of a minority group." It's a racial euphemism.
