Underworld the Band (not the book)

Ok, so before Underworld was Underworld,* they went by the moniker of Freur, and they had one really awesome single called Doot Doot. Classic early 80's synth pop, it's extremely melodic and minimal, and the video even features some Tetris-type activities going down. If you're as enamored of the song as I am, be sure to check out the "live" performance of the song here.

Incidentally, Underworld wouldn't give up on live performance of electronic music.

This is a live performance of the early Underworld track "Cowgirl," from (and providing the title to) their live video Everything, Everything. Cowgirl's a funny song, from a time when "country-themed techno" actually existed, to some extent. It's a great song and well worth the listen.

*And even before it was Underworld. Confused? You won't be after this episode of Soap. I mean Wikipedia. Soap, like synth pop, was a childhood favorite that has a special place in my heart for making so distinct an impression at a young age.

It's a pretty specific moment in time, that, innit? It's a good show, good DVD (as you know). Thanks.
